Congratulations Jen and Jeff!

Jen and Jeff were wed on June 21, 2009 in Cape May, NJ at Congress Hall. Shooting at Jen and Jeff's wedding was being among friends. I have photographed the weddings of most of their friends now, and it's a great bunch. They not only know how to rock a good party, they are all truly good people.

Jen and Jeff's day went very well and we were lucky enough to have some time with amazing light out on the beach. Enjoy the photos!

Third Place at Fotoweek DC!

This image from my Filforce Airsoft story won 3rd place at the National Geographic Fotoweek DC photo awards. The competition received over 3500 entries from 39 states and 28 countries. The awards ceremony was held in DC this past Thursday. Congratulations to all of the other winners and kudos to the Fotoweek crew for putting together such an amazing event.

Lastly, my most heartfelt thanks go to NGS' Stacy Gold for taking great care of Steven and I during her busy schedule.

International Photography Awards

Good news! I received word that one of my wedding photographs has taken 2nd place in the 2009 International Photography Awards. In the 7th year, IPA received nearly 18,000 submissions spanning 104 countries.

The winning photograph is from Kyle and Melanie's rainy day wedding. This image has also won an award from the ISPWP Photography contest.

Diamond Dash for a Cure, NYC!

What do wedding photographers do on a Saturday not shooting a wedding? Race with the contestants of the First Annual Diamond Dash!

Steven and I joined the "Diamond Dash: Dash for a Diamond & a Cure" yesterday. The Diamond Dash was sponsored by Michael C. Fina and TACORI. 1,000 couples were chosen to take part in this Manhattan-wide scavenger hunt/race. Each couple received a text message with a clue which took them to the next location where they received the next clue. The first couple to each stop received a special prize from one of the participating partners. Whoever solved the final clue and made it there first won a $20,000 TACORI engagement ring and Hawaiian honeymoon at Waikoloa Beach Resort.

Proceeds from the dash went towards The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Elissa Mummolo and Jeff Pellegrino were the first couple to make it to the first location, winning a special prize from Michael C. Fina.

At home editing, we realized we had a shot of the winning couple right before the race started!

At each stop, representatives from Michael C. Fina were on hand to stamp the couple's "passport". This allowed judges to confirm every required stop along the dash.

This couple came in second place overall (I didn't get your names unfortunately! Please send me your names if you are reading this!).

The Grand Prize winners, Tom Weymouth and Katherine Gordon. They attributed their success to "knowing the subway system". We heard that those who ran, made it to each location faster than those who took taxis. We heard one couple even had their own private driver!

I had to put this shot in here as it was too mouth watering! We had an opportunity to sample Ron Ben-Israel's cakes. Not only are they works of art to the eyes, but to the taste buds as well!

Diamond Dash for a Cure

I found out about this too late to inform future brides and grooms out there! In any event, if you are in NYC tomorrow, check it out.

1,000 couples will take part in the Diamond Dash around Manhattan. Similar to Amazing Race, the couples will follow clues throughout NYC with the ultimate goal at the finish line being a $20,000 Tacori engagement ring. The winning couple will then have a televised proposal on the spot.

While there, the most important aspect of this "race" is that this is a "Dash for a Cure." The race was created as a fundraiser to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please consider donating money towards this important cause.

Allison and Mike were recently married, but we had such a fun time doing their engagement session that I had to post them up here for everyone to see. What a fun day it was, from the quiet sides streets to the busy boardwalk, we were able to get some sexy and fun images.

Connie and Mike were wed on April 4, 2009 at the Bernardsville Inn in New Jersey.

We had the pleasure of attending their rehearsal dinner the night before, it was such a joy to meet everyone ahead of time. It enabled us a wonderful opportunity to know who everyone was on the actual wedding day. I don't know that I saw a moment when Connie and Mike were NOT smiling. They were the picture of relaxation and happiness that day. Thank you both for having us!

Engaged! Rosalie and Jack!

Rosalie and Jack are getting married in 2010. Great plans are in store and I can't wait to shoot their wedding! In the meantime, Rosalie was inspired of romantic photos of Jackie O's wedding and portraits. We shot in a cute little pocket of a neighborhood in Bloomfield, NJ. Tandem bike in tow, and a striking late day sun, we created this vintage inspired session.

A New Year!

Well! I do believe I have gotten caught up from the end of the year last year! Once again, I fell behind in my blogging duties! Dare I admit this is one of my resolutions for the new year? To keep up with my blog? If I admit it, will I jinx myself? ha! No jinxing here, it's all good stuff. I'm happy to say that at least my reason for my lack of blogging is a good one! I was busy shooting! The end of the year brought some fun things! From weddings to babies and even a wonderful trip to Bali, Indonesia!

I'll be posting images in the days to come so that I can come full speed ahead before our first month is done! I'm excited for the future, so many wonderful things coming. I'm very pleased to announce I have a creative partner in crime about to join me in some exciting personal projects. I can't wait to show you what the multi-talented photographer Steven Fontas and I have stirring in the pot for 2009!

In addition, as I have quite a few talented photographers among my past and current couples, I intend on having a weekly post to showcase photography's history. I want to dedicate some time to the masters and to those who have inspired me. Perhaps I'll even take a small step off the path into the world of painting and drawing as well... it's all tied together!

Starting Monday I will begin posting "Personal Work Monday" once more. That always seemed to be a favorite.

Please keep in touch and feel free to drop me a line from time to time and let me know what you think and what you'd like to see more of (or less of!).

In the meantime.. HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers

I am very proud to announce that I was accepted into a new group of wedding photographers called the ISPWP, or International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers.

ISPWP is a selective organization of wedding photographers from around the world and every photographer must meet the high standards set by the organization in order to be accepted. This is an online resource for couples to look for the right photographer for their wedding day.

In addition to being an online resource for couples, this is a great place for the photographers to network and to show off our work. We hold quarterly contests and I am happy to say that I won 3rd place overall in the Summer 2008 contest and 11th place overall in the Fall 2008 contest.

They chose a great location and simply did a wonderfully tasteful job in all of their wedding choices from the flowers to the dresses to the band! Kristin and Mike will soon be tying the knot! August 2 to be exact! But we were able to get a wonderful engagement session done at NYC's Central Park. Looking at these photos you'd never guess there were people EVERYWHERE! There was a race of some sort happening that day, we never could figure out what it was for! But Kristin and Mike were lovingly in their world in the midst of the busy park and it was a pleasure to photograph them. I'm looking forward to the upcoming wedding!

Engaged! Becki and Luciano!

Becki and Luciano were a blast to photograph in New York City for their engagement session! We shot in the meat packing district on a wonderful Sunday afternoon. They are so loving with one another and it all shined through in the images. They were very comfortable in front of the camera.

I'm looking forward to sharing the photos from their wedding, which will be very shortly!!!
